Aeon Castle

"Aeon Castle" is an exploration into a long lost civilization, where magic made gods of man and society had no needs or suffering.

This song is an example of how to use music theory to precisely convey an atmosphere better than any text or storytelling alone possibly could. The clarinet and flute convey an ancient and organic feel, the reverb vocals add a sense of mystery, and the EDM beat and synthesizers show that the civilization had developed into a modern society. Most importantly, the Ab dorian key is what makes this song sound otherwordly, rather than the typical minor keys used in current house music.

Unlike when previous songs were created, the models have now become advanced enough to near-perfectly follow prompt keywords. The ability to create this specific atmosphere was a direct result of experimenting and editing with keywords until I found the right answer. In the past, the atmosphere of a song would be stumbled upon randomly or accidentally, and the lyrics constructed from there. Moving forward, it will be possible to create an idea, write or have a model assist with the lyrics, and then specifically hone in on the specific keywords needed to create that sound.

For the first time, "Aeon Castle" was also able to use a new techique: stems generation. Suno 4.5+ now provides a feature that can separate the different instrumental tracks from the condensed audio file. Thinking in computer science terms, because the data of "separate instruments" doesn't actually exist in the original audio file, the stems model is inferring what the instrumental tracks should sound like from the original composition. The latest stem separation models generate stems that are higher quality and contain more data than the instrument compressed into the original mix, so adding them together in a simple tool like Audacity creates a higher quality output than the original file.

Finally, the models have taken a substantial leap forward since "Ghost of You," and have passed the compositional ability of all but the best human composers. So, even if their output is distorted, the sheet music is nearly always extraordinary, and that can be remixed or stem-extracted to take a stroke of genius and turn it into a high-quality production.
