Ghost of You
About This Track
"Ghost of You" is a masterclass in the genre of 'sad bangers'—a track that finds its power in the paradox of dancing through sorrow. It’s a song built for late-night drives through rain-streaked city streets, for solitary moments on a crowded dancefloor, and for anyone who's ever felt the unshakable presence of a past that refuses to fade.
Be prepared to be amazed at 15 seconds. The quality of the reverb and delay in this song exceeds not only every previous AI model's outputs, but also every commercially released song I've heard, and part of this seems to be the model's ability to achieve an extraordinary dynamic range rather than the extreme compressed loudness in many pop tracks. This only seems to be possible with the Udio model - every other model has so much distortion that any attempt with reverb ends up sounding like a tin can. This is also the first song where male vocals are flawless and indistinguishable from a commercial track; for whatever reason, models seem to have more trouble creating male vocals than emulating female vocalists. Additionally, it was the model, not me, that took the lyrics and somehow understood that the haunting vocals in the background were appropriate for ghosts.
I've stated elsewhere that, with the ability to use music as input sequences, a runaway sequence of "reinforcement learning with human feedback" is occurring in overdrive. Using RHLF in an LLM would involve humans grading outputs and then inputting those ratings into a new training run. Here, because music can be used as input, each song is used as an input live, without any configuration changes, to improve upon the input song.
And now, with the ability to use two songs as input sequences in addition to text prompts, it's possible to continually improve by using a capella vocals from Suno, the best vocal model, with extraordinarily clear instrumental tracks from Udio, the best overall model. Every song is better than the last and by selecting only the good outputs, is used as input for the next, which is why "Ghost of You" has stereo effects that weren't present in any of my previous songs, and clarity indistinguishable from a commercial release. Users can essentially train the models without ever changing the base weights.
Enjoy the marvel that is "Ghost of You!" And if you're wondering, "Chameleon Flow" will blow it out of the water in a few weeks. Such is the progress of AI - someone is going to achieve a Billboard hit using AI tools alone in 2025.
Lyrics
[Intro]
(Oh-oh-oh, oh)
(Oh, oh-oh-oh)
[Chorus 1]
It's just the ghost of you.... (oh.......)
In everything I see and do..... (oooooh......)
It's just the GHOST of you.... (oh.......)
In everything I see and do..... (oooooh......)
[Verse 1]
Rain-streaked windowpane
The city sighs below
See your face in every passing glow
Corner cafe, that empty chair
Breathe you in like you were standing there
My own reflection on the river's face
For a second it was out of place
A stolen moment, but I heard you call
But it was nothing, nothing there at all
[Chorus 2]
It's just the ghost of you.... (oh.......)
In everything I see and do..... (oooooh......)
It's just the GHOST of you.... (oh.......)
In everything I see and do..... (oooooh......)
[Bridge 2]
Taxi headlights climb the bedroom wall
Every shadow makes my memory stall
Reaching for the phone I used to call
But that's a number I shouldn't recall
[Chorus 3]
It's just the ghost of you.... (oh.......)
In everything I see and do..... (oooooh......)
It's just the GHOST of you.... (oh.......)
In everything I see and do..... (oooooh......)
[Outro]
Ohhhh..... Ohhhh....
In everything I see and do..... (oooooh......)
My ghost of you....
My ghost of you....
My ghost of you....
My ghost of you....
There's nothing there at all.......
